2011 NOZINCWADI BOOKS & STORY FESTIVAL
April 15 and 16, DIAKONIA Centre, Durban

2011 we had more than 700 people attending the event, not to mention the audiences who listened to Ukhozi FM live broadcast from the venue. The element of schools participation is Gcina’s very best! The talent on this province is simply astounding! We look forward to welcoming you to yet another celebration of our cultural heritage and involving our children in getting AFRICA ON THE MOVE! for the year 2012. The 2011 year’s theme was Celebrating Family Legacies and the following families were invited to grace the festival:
- Mandela (Nelson Mandela-Former President of RSA, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Iconic Leader)
- Hurley (Dennis Hurley-Archbishop of KZN, anti-apartheid activist, religious leader)
- Luthuli (Albert Luthuli- leader of the ANC, Nobel Peace Prize winner, educator, ·social and religious advocate)
- Ghandi (Mahatma Ghandi’s legacy as a peace advocate, lawyer, human rights activist and a freedom fighter)
- Kunene (Professor Mazisi Kunene’s family legacy as political activist, writer, poet, family advocate, historian)
- John Dube, (a great visionary, educationist,founder of ILANGA newspaper, ANC President and community builder)
- Mhlophe (Nozincwadi Mhlophe – Great grandmother-the visionary and spirit behind this Festival)
